  • A Design Patent Application consists of a series of figures that show the design from each relevant visual perspective, along with a short one sentence description of what is shown in each figure.
  • Unlike a Utility Application, the Design Application is concerned only with the appearance of the object or invention, not its usefulness.
  • The application may relate to the configuration or shape of an object, the surface ornamentation applied to the object, or a combination of the configuration or shape, and the surface ornamentation.
